Ningdong-Shandong ±660kV HVDC transmission project

Description

Ningdong-Shandong project is the world’s first ±660kV HVDC project with a series of world records on the size of the DC valve hall, the capacity of a 12-pulse converter, the number of thyristors per single valve, etc.

As a key project in China’s West-to-East power transmission endeavor, Ningdong-Shandong HVDC project transfers hydro power at the upper reaches of the Yellow River and thermal power in Ningdong directly to Shandong province, which not only meets the power demand of Shandong but also accelerates the economic development of western regions. The completion of the project helps to optimize allocation of resources, balance the transmission of hydro power and thermal power, while being compliant with the general blueprint of building a Strong and Smart Grid.

For this project, we supplied converter valves and control system components.
